Christians are those who not only believe on, but also follow Christ. He said: 'If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me

"God is a spirit; and they who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth."

John 4:24

Testimonies - Testimony of Bro. Alekos Dordas

Personal Testimony of Bro. Alekos Dordas

I was born in Athens the year 1988. My parents were Christians. Since early childhood I had the privilege of attending church and hearing God's word. I also attended Sunday School. Thus I was being brought up hearing about Christ and His work on the Cross, about my need to be saved. All these privileges, however, I didn't appreciated from the beginning. I knew everything about salvation, but kept putting off making a decision to receive Christ as my personal Savior. As time went on I was getting used to the gospel and everything concerning God and my soul's eternal destiny was gradually diminishing. In the back of my mind I always had the thought that sometime I should decide to repent, but as I grew up this thought became dimmer and dimmer. Sin was getting more and more control of me and I could realize its power on my whole being. The devil pacified my uneasy conscience by telling me I was too young for such thoughts and that a lot of things that bothered me as sins were not and I could go on getting the best of life. However, the word of God instilled into my heart from church and family, as a divine pedagogue, kept pricking my conscience as I was sinking deeper and deeper into sin. The Holy Spirit's conviction became weaker and weaker as I resisted it by insisting in my sinful life. I tried to avoid all relevant thoughts so that I could enjoy my worldly life. But, praise God, there came a time when my eyes were opened and my heart deeply convicted! I was 15 years old, it was Saturday afternoon, I was at home with my devout Christian mother! Up until that time, when mother talked to me about the need of my soul, I would remain silent not knowing what to say. But that evening I couldn't resist any more! The moment had come for me to decide what I would do with my immortal soul. That was something the devil up to then had managed to make me not think about neither consider at all! But God's time had come! Praise His name! The time for His word, which I had been hearing since early childhood, either in church, or from my mother at home, or even by reading the Bible myself, to bring forth its all-important fruit had come! The words of the gospel: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3: 36) would leave no room for any procrastination, as the mere thought that I was under the wrath of God struck me with terror! I knew the plan of salvation. I knew I was a sinner, condemned to eternal hell, and I needed to be saved by repenting and trusting Christ as my personal Savior. The Holy Spirit worked in my heart so that with hot tears in my eyes I fell on my knees, confessed my sins to my Savior, and thanked Him for His love for me and the gift of eternal life which I received by faith! I wouldn't remember for how long I stayed on my knees, but I do remember that I felt the burden of all my sins rolling away as I realized Christ had taken it on His own body on the Cross two thousand years before. Now I have given my life to Him, do anything a can to be useful in the church and my only prayer is He will be all in all in my life till He calls me up to be with Him for ever and ever!

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
