What we believe about atonement

We believe «all have sinned and come short of the glory of God» (Rom. 3:23). Christ by His death on the cross made atonement and paid with His blood for the sins of all mankind. However, this atonement takes effect only in those who by faith receive Christ as their personal Savior and leaves all others under the wrath of God. For, «he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him» (John 3:36). And, «The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord» (Rom. 6:23). Salvation is a personal matter. Each has to accept Christ as his personal Savior in order to be saved. Then the sinner is born «not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God» (John 1:13).
